Ruby Star Porsche Turbo 911
Created as part of my senior design exhibition Design Your Destination at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, this piece is part of the Driven to Detail poster series. It spotlights the 1991 Porsche 911 Turbo in its rare and vivid Ruby Star finish, celebrating both the car’s iconic design and its place in automotive history.
Every curve, vent, and reflection was meticulously illustrated, capturing the precision and elegance that define this model. Through a clean, refined graphic approach, the work transforms engineering excellence into visual art, inviting viewers to see the Porsche not just as a machine, but as a timeless design achievement.
The illustration starts as a reference photo, broken down into basic shapes. Each shape is drawn individually in Adobe Illustrator, building the structure layer by layer. Shadows, highlights, and textures are added through hundreds, sometimes thousands of precise vector pieces. As the layers grow, the image transforms from flat outlines into a detailed, realistic composition.
